CAL/OSHA: American reclamation guilty of 36 safety violations

The California Department of Industrial Relations Division of Occupational Saftey and Health has cited Los Angela’s recycling company for 26 saftey violations. The effects of these violations are quite high as they impact over 60 sorters, drivers, helpers and mechanics at risk while on the job.

A complaint filed by the National Relations Labour Board charged American Reclamation with 13 unfair labour practices in connection with the workers campaigning to join Teamsters Local 396 in Covina, California. The complaints included wrongful termination of the workers by the company.
The 36 violations totalled 38,895 in penalties. The National Relations Labour Board charged the American will be filing for prompt reinstatement for the three workers who were mistakenly terminated.
Part of the campaign at the American Reclamation is involved with the Don’t waste L.A. effort, a coalition of community, environmental, faith and labour working organizations working for clean air.
The Teamsters Union, which was founded in 1903, represents 1.4 million working men and women within the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
