Each Joint Council was asked to appoint 15 representatives below the age of 35 in order to adapt this new committee, which was approved in June 2009 at the Tenth Convention of Teamsters Canada.
Essentially, the objective of this committee is to gather males and females under 35 with various backgrounds and religions in order to represent different fields of work and activities. This committee allows young members of Teamsters Canada to have a voice and discuss issues of interest to young members. It is a fun and informative way to educate and gather young people of this union in solidarity. The active participation of these young members has given the union an upper hand at the bargaining table during the organization of campaigns and issue of politics.
